How Rich Arabs Celebrated Kenya's Ruth Jebet After Rio Win [PHOTOS]

Kenyan-born athlete Ruth Jebet is clearly enjoying the fruits of her stunning performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics where she clinched the first Gold medal for her adopted country Bahrain.

When the 19-year-old 3,000 metres steeplechase gold medalist jetted back to the middle-east island on Saturday evening, a big ceremony was prepared in her honour.

Ms Jebet touched down at the Bahrain International Airport to a heroine's welcome by senior government and sports officials of the country.

In a colourful ceremony, she was showered with confetti bearing the colours of Bahrain's flag while a white cake was set aside for her to cut.

Jebet was later feted by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

She is also set to receive Sh52 Million from Bahrain Government.

She opted to run for Bahrain after she was offered a full scholarship to study for an Animal Health Degree in the country among other goodies.

Jebet's win, in a record time of 8:59.75, elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans. A section of the public supported her decision citing bad treatment by the government while others felt she had betrayed the country.
