Days after a sex video and photos purported to be of sacked NTV journalist Anne Nakawombe spread online, the screen siren has spoken about the heart-wrenching moment.
The former NTV Uganda employee distanced herself from the video blaming gutter-press sites for spreading the 'non-factual and character assassinating reports' which she says damaged her reputation.
“Over the last one week, I have endured slander and defamatory sentiments ventilating through the Uganda media platforms. Indeed it is sad how these snoops and sites stoop so low to abdicate the very duty of accuracy as the hallmark of good journalism,” she stated.
The Login show host complained over how rumour mongers had even used misleading photos of her friends to orchestrate what she described as a falsehood.
Denying that she was the one filmed in the video, the embattled journalist promised that despite the shake-up, she would dust herself off and resume her normal life.
“I promise that I will bounce back stronger for its true to what they say; 'What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger',” she added.
Confirming that she had indeed parted ways with NTV Uganda, Nakawombe thanked the media house for giving her an opportunity to grow her career for the last four years.
Last week, NTV announced that it had sacked two employees - Nakawombe and Kevin Kaija - over gross misconduct with details of the 'misconduct' remaining scanty.
A video was later leaked which was said to show Ms Nakawombe having sex in an office during working hours.
However, the media house disputed the reports and clarified that those seen in the video and photos had never been its employees.
