The president also invited the entire community to turn up in large numbers at the Dawoodi Bohra’s Milad-un-Nabi celebrations scheduled to be marked in Dar es Salaam in October.
“Tanzania is a beautiful country; we have had tangible bilateral ties between our two countries. Therefore, I invite you to come and do business with Tanzania because we intend to industrialise our country in a period of between 2016/2017 and 2020/2021 … therefore, you should come and establish enough industries here,’’ Dr Magufuli told Dawood Bohra community.
President Magufuli met and held talks with the Head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb, when the latter paid him a courtesy call at the State House in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The talks were attended by the Chief Sheikh, Mufti Abubakar Zubeir Bin Ali and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Augustine Mahiga.
At the State House, Dr Magufuli toasted the Dawoodi Bohra community for its spiritual services and its participation in development.
In response, Dr Saheb commended his Tanzanian counterpart for a good job that he has been doing since he was elected president and promised that the Dawoodi Bohra community was ready to work together with the government of Tanzania in bringing development to the people.
Dr Saheb further handed over to President Magufuli a cheque for 53,000 US dollars (more than 116m/-) as the community’s donation for school desk cause countrywide.
In the same vein, the Dawoodi Bohra community leader handed over another cheque of 21,000 US dollars (more than 46m/-) as contribution to the National Muslim Council of Tanzania, BAKWATA.
Meanwhile, Dr Magufuli received a message from the President of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Mr Brahim Ghali, presented to him by the Minister of State and Advisor at the Presidency of the SADR, Mr Bachir Moustapha Sayed, according to a statement from the Directorate of Presidential Communications.
Although the contents of the letter were not disclosed, Dr Magufuli pledged that the Fifth Phase Government would strengthen bilateral ties between Tanzania and SADR, adding that he would support the citizens of Saharawi in protecting their rights.
