KWS Officer Shoots His Boss in Dramatic Fight

A Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) boss was on Tuesday night fatally wounded after one ranger ran amok and opened fire on fellow officers.

Corporal Liban Kune stationed at Mwea National Reserve in Embu County is said to have returned from a drinking spree and engaged in a confrontation with his boss Richard Njoroge.

Mr Kune then went for his gun and shot dead a KWS driver identified as Constable Joseph Nyaga who was apparently shielding the boss.

As Mr Noroge attempted to flee, the enraged assailant turned and shot him in the head. He then loaded his gun and started shooting indiscriminately before disappearing in nearby thickets.

According to fellow officers who described Mr Kune as a sharpshooter, his state of intoxication probably saved them since he couldn't shoot accurately at the moment.

“What saved many of us is that he was drunk and he was unstable. He is a sharpshooter,” stated a colleague.

Fearing that other officers could gun him down, the assailant's wife intervened pleading with her husband who had since run into the game reserve to surrender, which he did.

The reserve warden was then rushed to Embu Tenri Hospital where he is still recuperating.

In a separate incident, a female police officer on Wednesday morning caused a scare at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after killing herself inside a toilet.

The officer who had left troubling messages on her social media accounts was discovered by workers at the airport and is suspected to have committed suicide.
