After Grand Launch, Jubilee's Expensive Vehicles Defaced [PHOTOS]

Last week, photos of top-of-the-range vehicles branded in Jubilee colours caused a stir in the country after it was reported that the relatively young party had bought the vehicles for use in the 2017 General Election.

Opposition politicians led by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed addressed a press conference where they asked the Jubilee Party to explain the source of funds used in the purchase of the expensive Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

Most of the branded vehicles were Toyota Land Cruiser Prados which are estimated to cost Sh6 Million per vehicle.

Two days after the Jubilee Party grand launch, photos have emerged of some of the vehicles being processed to remove the branding material.

It would seem that the vehicles were hired for the week leading to the launch - a rather creative strategy that saved the party millions and achieved in attracting the country’s attention in an unprecedented manner.

While responding to questions on acquisition of the posh vehicles, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria indicated that they were donated by supporters of the party ahead of the grand launch.

The use of grand vehicles is a common tactic in Kenyan politics.

In the run up to the 2007 General Election, then ODM leader Raila Odinga became the first Kenyan politician to publicly ride in a hummer - a stunt that gave him unrivalled publicity.

Here are some of the photos:
